Curtis and Lauren | Soldiers and Sailors Memorial
Interview with the Bride…
I have a deep love for architecture and Curtis loves History, so Soldiers and Sailors felt like the perfect venue for us.I really wanted part of the wedding to be outdoors and their front patio area seemed perfect. The building is gorgeous itself offering an amazing backdrop for our ceremony. They also had a great rain plan which took a lot of stress away — even though we lucked out and didn’t need it!
The reception was also at Soldiers and Sailors and it was just perfect. We invited close to 300 people to the wedding and that really limited the venue options with an available date within a year or so time frame. Also, the ballroom had amazing architecture – to me it was just a standard ballroom with funky carpet. In addition to the actual style of the reception area, their staff was incredible. They had multiple coordinators that helped coordinate vendors, and their maintenance personal were also incredibly helpful when it came to loading and unloading things.
Honestly the biggest obstacle was finding the right venue for us. We had a large invite list but I was determined to find something within budget but also within my style — Soldiers and Sailors was just that.
Yes! I can’t think of one thing that didn’t go as planned. It was a little hot which made it tough for our guests during the outdoor ceremony, but other than that I can’t think of anything.
I would do it all again, exactly the same. It was perfect for us.
Favorite wedding day moment was dancing with all of our family and friends. Our DJ, has been the DJ at many family weddings — we even had him travel down to the outer banks for my brothers wedding because he is that amazing! Of course for our wedding, he also did a fantastic job – and we got to dance to some of our favorite songs with our favorite people — what is better than that?!
Just enjoy it. There is a lot of things to do, but make it your own and try not to stress about it. Afterwards, if your food is good, the music is good and you have fun, that’s really all your guests will care about!
