An Outdoor Beachside Marco Island Marriott Wedding

I always love shooting weddings at the Marco Island Marriott in Marco Island Florida. Dane and Kimberly’s Marco Marriott Wedding was amazing, of course! We started off with photographing the getting ready with both the groom and the bride (separately), soon after we found ourselves on the white sandy beach of the Marriott, near Quinn’s restaurant for the nuptials. I have to admit, it was extremely bright that day and I had to do some weird yoga moves in the sand to get the angle I wanted without lens flare. lol. The reception was then held outdoors in the courtyard near the lobby of the hotel, which was quite fitting as the weather outside was actually enjoyable. 🙂

Interview with the Bride:
Maria: What is the story behind “Dane and Kimberly”?
Kimberly: Dane and I met our second week of college at the University of Central Florida in 2003. From then on we were pretty much inseparable. For 10 years we grew as individuals and as a couple accomplishing big things such as graduating college, and grad school for Kimberly, landing our first professional jobs, getting a dog and a cat, and bought a home together in South Florida. On Dane’s 28th Birthday, we took our annual trip to the Florida Keys to celebrate. We went to our favorite restaurant, Islamorada Fish Company, where after finishing Dane’s Birthday dinner, he popped the question on the beach. It was an unforgettable moment that we will cherish forever, and now we will celebrate Dane’s birthday and our engagement anniversary when we do our annual trip to the keys.
Maria: Was there any details that were DIY (Do it yourself)?
Kimberly: Etsy and Pinterest will become your best friends. I used The Knot’s Monthly-To-Do List to keep me on track, and it was very helpful. I choose all my vendors based on my venue’s recommendations and then hired a Day-Of-Coordinator to help oversee and execute the actual event. That was the best investment I made. Word of advice..keep it simple with the extra decor and additions. People care about food, drinks, music, and if the bride and groom are having fun. Don’t kill yourself trying to make 100 little arts and crafts that most people won’t even notice. On the wedding day, someone has to put all that stuff out and make sure everything is done correctly. Why create more stress and work than necessary?!
Maria: What was the biggest obstacle while planning your wedding? On your wedding day?
Kimberly: Biggest obstacle was planning a wedding with my mom being in another state. We utilized email and phone calls and stayed very organized. Since we had a day of coordinator, she handled most obstacles for the wedding day and it was really a stress-free event.
Maria: What was your best memory from your wedding day? And Why?
Kimberly: The best moment was the look on my husband’s face as I walked down the aisle and he saw me in my dress for the first time. His expression was priceless.
Maria: Why did you choose Marco Island Marriott as your venue?
Kimberly: Marco Island has some of the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen. We love Marriott hotels, and have heard nothing but positive things about this location. After the first tour, I booked the venue right away. I knew it was right. The staff is amazing, the wedding event coordinator was WONDERFUL, and our wedding was just perfect. I really can’t think how it could of gone any better.
Maria: Why did you decide on SW Florida as your wedding destination?
Kimberly: We live in Fort Lauderdale and love Florida so much, but we feel the west coast is the place to go for a beach wedding since you get the sunsets!
Maria: Any tips or advice for other brides/grooms planning their wedding?
Kimberly: GET A DAY OF WEDDING PLANNER!!! Your mom, bridesmaids, groomsmen are all busy getting ready in the morning! Don’t stress them out! It was so nice to be with everyone in the suite drinking mimosas and not worrying about a thing because I knew I had my coordinator, Marriott event planner, and vendors handling everything. It really made it a wonderful day.
