Interview with the bride

Bride looks back on her wedding day

Maria: Why did you choose your ceremony venue?

Alyson: We wanted a traditional Catholic ceremony and we wanted to be married in the church I attended while growing up. Thus, determining our ceremony venue was not difficult.

Maria: Why did you choose your reception venue?

Alyson: Since we had many out of town guests, we knew we wanted the reception to be at a hotel. Some venues we had to rule out because they couldn’t accommodate the size of our wedding. Out of all of the venues we looked at, the Double Tree included the most for our money. Additionally, the wedding coordinator, Ashley, made a great first impression and we were excited to work with her.

Maria: Did you face any obstacles while planning your wedding?

Alyson: We live in Houston, Texas, so we were basically planning a destination wedding (without the beach)! Planning from afar is definitely a challenge. Every time we came home to Pittsburgh, we were consumed with things that needed to be done for the wedding. We were fortunate that our vendors were extremely responsive and accommodating, which eased the process tremendously.

Maria: Did everything go as planned on your wedding day?

Alyson: Yes! I mean, there were a few little things that were not EXACTLY as I had planned, but I’m not even going to mention them because I’m pretty sure I am the only one who noticed.

Maria: Your favorite wedding day moment…

Alyson: I can’t pick just one favorite! I would have to say my top memories include: doing a reveal to my parents once I was ready; walking down the aisle with my dad and seeing Matt standing at the altar; and dancing all night with family and friends. Another favorite moment was dancing the night away with family and friends – especially when everyone got on the dance floor to do the line dance to “Copperhead Road.”

Maria: Any advice or tips to give to a Bride-To-Be?

Alyson: Stay organized–I used Excel to keep track of everything. Don’t sweat the small stuff–I kept telling myself this throughout the process and I was able to take my own advice…for the most part. Enjoy your day–it’s one of the few times that you will have all of your family and friends together in one place, and it will be over before you know it.
