Reflecting back

Reflecting back on the wedding day

Can I say that I am absolutely enamored with Aliza and Kirk’s family and friends. They were so kind and joyful that it was infectious. Everyone seemed to be all smiles, not just a regular smile, like the kind that makes your cheeks hurt! How they kept that up all day – impressed me! This was also my first time photographing a wedding at Renaissance Hotel! I cannot wait to have the opportunity to visit this wedding venue again!

Interview with the bride

Reflecting back on the wedding day with the bride.

Why did you choose your venue?

We chose the Renaissance Pittsburgh because it not only is an awesomely grand venue, you can do everything in one place. The ceremony, cocktail hour, reception, and even getting ready all day. It makes you feel like royalty. They also know what they’re doing there. Cam and Brendon were insightful and really made the day run smooth. You don’t have to hire a wedding planner since the person you work with will be with you the day of.

Did everything go as planned on your wedding day?

Everything went pretty smooth, but never plan on it going exactly as planned. Tip to others: make sure not to use new makeup or give makeup as a gift, you or someone might be allergic to it. But then it’s a good thing you hired Maria Angela and she has all of the allergy medications and will save your butt.

Looking back on your wedding day, is there anything you would have done differently?

I would have allowed more time to take pictures with the bridal party and remembered to take individual pictures with each of my girls. Everything goes much faster than you think it will!

Your favorite wedding day moment…

Seeing my fiance/now husband tear up at the alter. Sweet, sweet moment.

Any advice or tips to give to a Bride-To-Be?

Bring a fan to put under your dress while you’re getting ready, it’s super toasty. Also, even if you think you don’t need to pin your veil down, do.

Getting Ready

The bride and groom decided to get ready at their wedding venue, The Renaissance Hotel, in downtown Pittsburgh.

Ceremony

I loved how guests were seated as if they were in your living room. There were couches, overstuffed chairs, and side tables for your beverages. It brought a more family oriented vibe to the nuptials which I adored.

Lock Tradition

This is such a neat and fun idea! Find a lock, make it personal by engraving your names and wedding date and then lock it onto the 6th street bridge (Roberto Clemente Bridge) and toss the key!

Wedding Portraits

One thing I absolutely love about downtown Pittsburgh weddings, is the amount of photo opportunities you have within walking distance of each other.

Reception

One thing was true about the reception for Aliza and Kirk – everyone knew how to have a good time! There were so many people on the dance floor by the time I left that they poured into the dining area of the room.
