Interview with the Bride…

We wanted to have our ceremony in the Catholic Church so we chose the church in our neighborhood, where we are members.

We are city people and knew we definitely wanted a reception venue in the city, preferably with outdoor space. The Frick Art and Historical Center was the very last venue we looked at but as soon as we stepped on property, we knew that it was the right place. The Art Museum was the perfect place for our cocktail hour and we were absolutely in love with the idea of a tented, outdoor wedding that could be customized however we wanted!

We really didn’t face many obstacles. It was just a lot of planning and a lot of details! The Frick does not have an event coordinator to guide you through what you need to do/should know about planning a wedding so we had to figure it out as we went along. The other challenge was the hotel we selected for our guests – they pushed back the opening date to the week before our wedding! We were a bit panicked but it ended up opening in time and the hotel and staff were amazing!

Yes, for the most part, except that it rained all morning. And that Kevin forgot some of the decorations in his car so now we are stuck with 25 selfie sticks that were supposed to be used at the wedding!

Absolutely….I would have definitely hired a wedding planner! It would have been great to have someone to make sure everything was done on schedule and no details were overlooked. I would recommend that everyone hire a wedding planner if you can afford it!

I loved standing next to Kevin at the altar and exchanging vows – it sounds cheesy but that’s what the day is all about and it was really special. I also really loved watching everyone having such a great time on the dance floor!

Don’t stress over the little things – you won’t even notice them or remember them the day of the wedding. Also, don’t try to change anything the week leading up to the wedding – you’ll spend countless hours planning every detail until then so just take time to enjoy the excitement of your wedding day. And finally, someone recommended to me to step away from the reception and just take it all in because it’s the one time in your life when all of your friends and family, all of the people you love, will be in one room, together, having fun celebrating you and your spouse.
